What is Feast RVA?

The idea is simple:

Donate $25. Enjoy a delicious dinner and drinks at a local venue. Listen to short presentations by local creatives. Chat with those creatives and other attendees. Vote for your favorite project. Watch your money make someone else’s creative dream come true. Go home happy.

FEAST began in Brooklyn as a way to change the way we think about funding creative projects. We can’t all be private investors, but we can form opinions, pool our resources, and have a really good time doing it.

Since 2009, the Brooklyn FEAST project has raised over $15,000 in support of the arts. Feast RVA is not just an extension of this communal spirit, it’s custom-fitted to Richmond’s unique artistic personality. We’re Richmonders who want to help other Richmonders, and through a culture of generosity, we can make a difference in our city.

Feast RVA connects Richmond’s creative talent with creative enthusiasm. A not-for-profit, community-driven organization, Feast RVA funds local projects through a process that’s both democratic and delicious.

What should a project pitch include?

Feast RVA welcomes a diverse array of ideas. Have a great plan for a community event? Always wanted to open a mobile comic shop? Envisioning a warehouse mural? Sounds good to us. If your plan is well thought-out, you have an excellent chance of making our ballot. See below for specific criteria.

Ballot-worthy ideas will satisfy the following creative criteria:

1) Original - Is the idea innovative? Is it compelling?

2) Local - Are you a Richmond resident? Feast RVA is solely interested in local creatives.

3) Feasible - Is your idea plausible, and has it been fully considered? Is it pointed and clear? Is it well presented?

Just one more thing – if your project is selected to appear on our ballot, you’ll need to be able to be present at that particular Feast RVA event. Check Upcoming for times and dates in the near future.
